International flight passengers in Mexico grow 28.6% in 2021.

 The main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were Volaris and Aeroméxico.

After the impact recorded in 2020 by the pandemic, passengers on international flights to Mexico began to recover in 2021, registering 35 million 891,000 passengers, which represented a growth of 78.6% compared to the previous year.

According to the Tourism Secretariat (Sectur), the number registered in 2019 is only 26.4% less than the 48,792,000 travelers in 2019 , before the arrival of Covid-19 and the health restrictions.

In this sense, the Sectur specified that the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights were Volaris and Aeroméxico, which together mobilized 7 million 464,000 passengers, 84.5% more than in 2020 and 24.6% less than in 2019, when they transported 9 million 903,000.

In this regard, the head of the Secretariat, Miguel Torruco Marqués, maintained that, in terms of US airlines , those that reported the highest number of passengers in 2021 were American Airlines and United Airlines, which totaled 10 million 29,000, an increase of 111.8 % compared to 2020 and 9.7% more than the 9 million 141,000 of 2019.
